You will be collected from your accommodation around 5:30am and transported to Ollantaytambo trainstation in the Sacred Valley. You will enjoy a very comfortable and scenic jounrey upon the Vistadome Peru Rail. Travelling time takes around 1.5 hours until the start of the trail. The first part of the walk will be for roughly 4 hours until the site of Wiñay Wayna, or ‘forever young’, which sits at 2680m elevation. Along the way your guide will explains about the local plants and vegtation, as well as the history and ancient fold storeis. At Wiñay Wayna is where you will have reached the most remarkable part of the trail. You will continue onto Inti Punku (Sun Gate,2730m), the original and principle entrance to the citadel. Here you will have the first breathtaking sighting of Machu Picchu. You will pass through Machu Picchu- a preview of the tour to come. The day will finish in Aguas Calientes where you can relax in the hot springs or shop in the local markets. You will have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
 
You will begin the journey on the most important day of the tour early in the morning. This can be organised with your guide depending on your preference. If you choose to leave around 5:00am, the early arrival to the gates of the site gives you the opportunity to watch the glorious sunrise over one of the great Wonders Of The World. Depending on what time you decide you will take a licensed bus to the main gates, where your 2-hour tour will begin. Your guide will provide information on the most important structures and temples of Machu Picchu. This is followed by a period of free time to explore on your own and engage with the mystery that shrouds these ancient ruins. Once it is time to return home, you will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and onwards to Cusco by bus.

Inca Trail Short
