CUSCO – CRUZPATA – MORAY-SALINERAS – CUSCO The adventure tour begins with an 8:00 a.m. pick-up at your hotel, followed by an approximately 50minute journey in private transportion to the town of Cruz Pata (3,500 m). From here you will embark on the bike tour. Your guide provides everyone with a mountain bike and all necessary safety gear, as well as a detailed safety briefing. The first stretch of the journey will be on paved road, where we will become familiar with the bikes and controls. During this portion of the trip, we’ll have the opportunity to see crops such as potatoes, corn, and quinoa, as well as breathtaking mountain landscapes. The first destination is the archaeological site Moray. This was a center of agricultural research and experimentation during the Inca rule. Here your guide will tell you all about the fascinating experiments carried out. Next, you will begin the second leg of the tour, pumping up the adrenaline by veering off the road onto horse trails used by the local communities. You will continue on these paths until the arrival at the town of Maras where you will stop for a rest and picnic lunch. This beautiful town has some of the most dynamic views you will see all day. Finally, you will set out on the final and most difficult leg of the journey: the descent down the mountain to the salt mines (Las Salineras). Here there will be a guided tour of the mines and pools, where you will become familiar with the process of salt crystallization and extraction methods that have been employed for centuries. Following this, the private transport will be ready to take you back to Cusco for arrival at 4:00pm.

Bicycle Tour of Moras and Moray Salt Mines

This exciting, full day, biking tour gives you the opportunity to see parts of the beautiful Cusco region in a unique way. The magnificent scenery will take your breath away as your bike along the surfaced (and a little dirt track) road. Our guides will provide their expert and personal knowledge on every topic from the history of the surrounding areas and historical sites, the agricultural riches to the ancient legends of the people of the Incan Empire. You will travel to the archeological site Moray, for a very special type of science lesson. Following the chance to explore and take pictures you will continue onto the picturesque town of Maras. This part of the journey involves deviating off on to paths, which are slightly more ‘off the beaten track’. You will enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by mesmerizing Andean peaks. Your stamina will be tested during the next part of the journey as you descend the mountains to the famous Las Salineras (Salt Mines). There will be a 40minute guided tour here before returning to Cusco, arriving early evening.
